The Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (NREL) within the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to assist in clinical implementation and evaluation of a smart personalization system for robotic lower limb prosthetics .

Required Qualifications

  1. A recent Ph.D. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or related fields.
  2. Research experiences in two or more of the following areas: gait biomechanics, wearable robotics, reinforcement learning, system integration, user interface design and evaluation
  3. Understanding fundamental concepts of control and physical human-robot interactions.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills (with records of peer-reviewed publication)
  5. Excellent programming/coding skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in human motor control and learning, mechatronic systems, metabolic measurement, machine learning
  • Experience with conducting research on patient populations, especially individuals with lower limb loss
  • Experience with working with clinicians and multi-disciplinary research team
  • Programming skills (MATLAB, C++, LabVIEW etc.)
