The Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory (NREL) within the UNC/NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to assist in evaluating and improving advanced neural control for wearable robotic assistive devices, which are used to enhance mobility and stability.

Required Qualifications

  1. A recent Ph.D. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical Engineering or related fields.
  2. Research experiences in gait, balance, posture evaluation, and experimental design.
  3. Understanding fundamental concepts of control and physical human machine interaction.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills (with records of peer-reviewed publication) and coding skills.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in human motor control and learning, mechatronic systems, electromyography data analysis, metabolic measurement, Opensim, and musculoskeletal modeling.
  • Experience with patient populations with lower limb disability.
  • Programming skills (MATLAB, C++, LabVIEW etc.)
